Subject: Proposed Changes to CRA requirements

Dear whomever it may concern,

I am writing in opposition to the proposed changes to the definition of
small banks under the Community Reinvestment Act. This critical piece of
legislation is crucial in the fight for all families in America to afford
decent housing. In urban and rural areas there is great community support
for affordable housing, community and economic development. Especially in
rural areas, and even in many of our largest cities, there are few banks
that hold $1 billion in assets. This change would be detrimental in the
fight for affordable housing and economic reinvestment in our nation's
communities. Under the new rules, many banking institutions would have a
much lower level of participation in the process of affordable housing and
community reinvestment. Like so many others, i am urgin the FDIC to
withdraw its proposed rule change.
