I encourage the FDIC to maintain the vitality of the CRA through regulations that continue to encourage as many banks as possible to participate. Reduced regulatory incentives would likely mean that banks would scale back participation in order to compete financially with their peer organizations. This would hurt many local redevelopment, neighborhood improvement, and housing project efforts. Here in Santa Barbara we have had good success in working with local banks under the provisions of the Act, and we want to see this continue. Thank you very much.
