In recognition of National Homeownership Month, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will host a virtual mortgage lenders workshop to highlight tools that can help promote affordable mortgage lending. These include affordable housing inventory resources, credit counselors, and down-payment assistance/first-time homebuyer programs. The event will assist mortgage lenders in helping potential homebuyers by providing resources and referring them to helpful resources including community development financial institutions (CDFIs) and technical assistance providers. The attendees will have access to a newly developed Homeownership Resource Guide to connect potential borrowers to affordable financial products and services, encourage access to down payment assistance/one-on-one credit counseling/first-time homebuyer programs, build a formal referral system, and strengthen collaborations with community partners.
