FDIC Hosts a Webinar to Promote Access to Affordable Credit for Spanish-speaking Latino Households and Entrepreneurs in East Los Angeles, California

Event Date
- (3:30 - 5pm EDT)
Location
Webinar, Zoom, registration information below.

In recognition of National Hispanic Heritage Month, the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) will host a webinar to promote access to affordable credit for Spanish-speaking Latino households and entrepreneurs in East Los Angeles, CA. Spanish-speaking Latinos are often targeted by predatory lenders, in large part because of language barriers and a lack of banking access. This trend is particularly true in the community of East Los Angeles, where 97 percent of the population is Latino and a large portion of residents are foreign-born. This event focuses on promoting sustainable collaborations among members of the local financial eco-system to increase trust in the banking system, and to promote access to affordable credit. We will conduct the event in Spanish. The event is part of the San Francisco Region’s Spanish-speaking Communities Initiative. The webinar addresses opportunities identified during a 2021 FDIC listening session to promote economic inclusion for Latinos facing language barriers with local faith-based leaders and other influential stakeholders.
