Special Alert

TO: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
SUBJECT: Counterfeit Cashier's Checks

The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) has learned that counterfeit cashier's checks drawn on the Citizens Business Bank, 701 N. Haven Avenue, Ontario, California, are in circulation. A copy of one of the counterfeit instruments and a copy of a legitimate instrument are attached for your information.

The bank's legitimate checks have the word "CASHIERSCK" on the lower left side and are printed on a line printer. On the right side, the legitimate checks have the amount in large print and a statement below the amount that reads "VOID OVER" and the amount of the check.

The counterfeit checks have a border across the top that reads "FOR SECURITY PURPOSES, THE FACE OF THIS DOCUMENT CONTAINS A COLORED BACKGROUND AND MICROPRINTING IN THE BORDER." A border across the bottom of the counterfeit checks reads: "THE REVERSE SIDE OF THIS DOCUMENT INCLUDES AN ARTIFICIAL WATERMARK - HOLD AT ANGLE TO VIEW." The city name, Ontario, has been misspelled on the counterfeit items as "Ontarioo."
