I am submitting this comment regarding the proposed new FDIC rule. I work with distressed neighborhood areas in the City of Tacoma, Washington. Our community has benefited from our banks’ involvement in any number of projects, and they are now encouraged to do so because in part of the existing requirements under the Community Reinvestment Act (CRA). It would be incredibly short-sighted to allow banks with assets above $250 million to be examined as small banks under the CRA. This policy would reduce lending, investments and services in Tacoma and other cities with low-income communities.
