The FDIC invites you to a national town hall focused on helping older adults and their families recognize and prevent scams, fraud, certain cyber threats, and other forms of elder financial exploitation. This event, held in anticipation of National Cybersecurity Awareness Month, will highlight practical, real-world tactics to safeguard against common schemes such as imposter scams, romance scams, phishing (including smishing and vishing).
This program will feature:
- Scam prevention resources, including content from Money Smart for Older Adults.
- Success stories showing how organizations use the Money Smart for Older Adults curriculum to educate and protect their communities.
- Tips for helping people recognize and avoid online threats, including how to spot and steer clear of investment scams.
For nearly 25 years, FDIC Money Smart has provided free, non-copyrighted, high-quality resources for banks, schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to empower people with the knowledge and tools needed to make informed financial decisions. The program includes instructor-led curricula for all age groups and small businesses, as well as How Money Smart Are You? —14 self-paced games on everyday financial topics.
