Train-the-Trainer Program

Every CD of the instructor-led Money Smart curriculum includes a helpful Guide to Presenting the Money Smart Curriculum.  The guide helps instructors learn how to effectively use the training materials, including by highlighting the features that help instructors quickly and easily teach financial education in a classroom setting.  The guide also provides training tips and strategies to accommodate participants with disabilities.

Train-the-Trainer Videos
Money Smart train-the-trainer videos also provide prospective instructors with an overview of the curriculum components.  The videos help instructors learn the usefulness of the instructor guide and how to use it effectively, become familiar with the student materials, and understand the importance of advanced preparation.  The videos also highlight effective strategies to use the curriculum.

The Train-the-Trainer videos can be viewed online.

Some train-the-trainer workshops are also conducted in person. These workshops are held for financial institutions, community organizations, and other entities that either provide financial education training or plan to implement the Money Smart program. The Train-the-Trainer workshops provide guidance to the lead trainers at these organizations. These lead trainers, in turn, conduct workshops in their organizations for additional instructors or move directly to classroom instruction for Money Smart students. Workshops are conducted for groups of at least 25 potential instructors.

A How to Guide: Train-the-Trainer Resource CD
Recognizing that many Money Smart partners conduct their own full-day train-the-trainer workshops for their staff or stakeholders, the FDIC now offers a CD with useful resources. FDIC's "Train the Trainer (In-A-Box) Resources" CD, gives instructors many of the same materials FDIC staff use to conduct train-the-trainer workshops. Money Smart partners can use this CD to administer their own train-the-trainer workshops. The CD includes guidance on how to use these materials to train a group of instructors.
