What the FDIC Ombudsman Cannot Do

The OO does not:

  • take sides – the OO maintains a neutral stance
  • make management decisions – the OO is an informal dispute resolution mechanism
  • provide assistance on matters already involved in litigation, arbitration, or mediation – unless there is a process breakdown

Also, FDIC may not always be the appropriate agency to provide assistance (see list of Financial Institution Regulators). If you are not sure which agency regulates your bank or controls your issue, check FDIC's Bank Find database, or call us and we will research the institution for you.
