Metcalf Bank, Overland Park, Kansas, has contacted the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) to report that counterfeit cashier's checks bearing the institution's name are in circulation. The counterfeit items display the routing number 101014733, which is assigned to Metcalf Bank, and have ornate top and side borders. The bank's logo, name, and address are displayed in the lower-left corner. "DRAWER: Empire Bank" appears above the "Authorized Signature" line near the lower-right corner. "CASHIER'S CHECK" is printed within a rectangular box that has rounded corners. The box is embedded within the top border and has the following security statement printed on both sides: "HOLD DOCUMENT UP TO THE LIGHT TO VIEW TRUE WATERMARK." Authentic checks display the bank's logo, name, "An Employee-Owned Community Bank," "Member FDIC" and telephone number centered below the top border. A foil security strip appears along the top border, and security feature descriptions are printed below the "Dollars" line. "CASHIER'S CHECK" is printed above the lower-left corner. A padlock security symbol appears on the right side. Copies of a counterfeit item and an authentic check (VOID) are attached for your review. Be aware that the appearance of counterfeit items can be modified and that additional variations may be presented.
