Special Alerts
The Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions (OSFI) of Canada has published the attached "Warning Notice" (Issue No. 77) concerning Certificates of Incorporation by the Province of Ontario. OSFI was advised that the Certificates of Incorporation of the following entities have been cancelled for cause, under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario): Key Bank Corp. The Bank Act (Canada) contains restrictions on the ability of entities incorporated under other legislation in Canada to use the word "bank," either alone or in combination with other words, or any word or words of import equivalent thereto. In addition, OSFI has been advised by the Province of Ontario that the Certificates of Incorporation of the numerous entities, including Monarch Home Builders, listed on the schedule attached to Warning Notice No. 77 have been cancelled for cause, under the Business Corporations Act (Ontario). OSFI has been advised that the cancelled corporations are not related to Monarch Corporation or its associated companies. Financial institutions that are approached by persons purporting to represent any of the foregoing entities should treat any proposed transaction with suspicion.
