Minority Depository Institution National Conference - Miami Beach, Florida
August 1-3, 2006
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) is hosting a national conference for federally insured minority-owned banks and thrifts on the challenges they face and developments that are key to ensuring their long-term success and viability. The conference will be held at the Miami Beach Resort and Spa in Miami Beach, Florida, from August 1-3, 2006. Representatives from the Federal Reserve Board, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency, and the Office of Thrift Supervision will also participate in the conference.
The conference presents a unique opportunity for bankers, regulatory officials,
and private industry representatives to exchange knowledge and increase
awareness on matters affecting minority-owned institutions.
- Keynote speakers will include FDIC Director Thomas Curry, and Banker, Entrepreneur, and Black Entertainment Television Founder Robert Johnson (Invited).

Senior-level policymakers from each of the regulatory agencies will participate in addressing issues on the horizon in their areas, particularly as they relate to minority institutions, and provide updates on pertinent banking-related legislation.

Panel discussions will address such topics as contingency and business
continuity planning.

Private industry presentations will address such issues as the marketing/cross-selling
of products and funding alternatives for financial institutions.

Also planned are several breakout sessions on topics ranging from deposit
insurance reform to recent changes in bankruptcy laws.
