On July 17, 2013, the FDIC's New York Region hosted a Regional Regulatory Teleconference. Our topic for the teleconference was “Fair Lending Risks From A Functional Area Perspective.”

The presentation discussed fair lending risks inherent in many functional areas of the bank including:  business planning, marketing, outsourcing of bank functions, as well as loan origination and servicing.  The session provided a broad perspective of potential fair lending risk areas to assist bank management in understanding this complex examination function.
