States in which the nonfarm payroll growth from June 2000 to June 2001 has been less than 25 percent of the 1992 to 2000 average are Arizona, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, West Virginia, Connecticut, Vermont, and New Hampshire. Of these states, those in which the share of manufacturing jobs is at least 110 percent of the U.S. share are Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, Arkansas, Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, Ohio, Connecticut, Vermont, and New Hampshire. States in which nonfarm payroll has declined 0.2 percent or more from June 2000 to June 2001 are Oregon, Nebraska, Missouri, Mississippi, Indiana, Alabama, and Michigan. Of these states, those in which the share of manufacturing jobs is at least 110 percent of the U.S. share are Mississippi, Alabama, and Michigan. Other states in which the share of manufacturing jobs is at least 110 percent of the U.S. share are Minnesota, Kansas, Kentucky, and Pennsylvania.
